Brooklyn‘s Finest on Blu-ray is a very nice release. With an amazing cast including Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Wesley Snipes and Ethan Hawke along with smaller roles by Ellen Barkin, Vincent D’Onofrio and Will Patton the cast has some amazing actors and all give above-average performances. Brooklyn’s Finest is about cops in Brooklyn dealing with their surroundings and each has their own major hurdle to get over. Hawke’s character is supporting a wife who is pregnant with twins and also having other kids and a house that is falling apart. How is he supposed to do right by his family on a cop’s salary? Cheadle’s character is an undercover cop being used to set up a recently released prisoner who saved his life when he was undercover in jail. Gere is a week from retirement, not willing to take risks that could cost him his life, he is forced to train rookie cops and learn how to live life as an everyday citizen. Snipes plays a recently released convict wanting to go straight but finding himself irresistibly drawn back into a life of crime, hoping to make one final score to fund his post-criminal life. Brooklyn’s Finest is a tough police drama that is a bit of a downer but a very good movie none-the-less.
