Rambo: First Blood Part II Blu-ray Review

Rambo: First Blood Part II is my favorite of the sequels. It has that James Cameron feel as an action movie, and with good reason, the script was co-written by Cameron and Stallone. While this might be big-hair and over-the-top as any 80’s movie, it has a heart and brings you to Rambo’s Vietnam. First Blood might be the better story, but part II is the better at all-out action. It’s a fun ride and worthy of being the best First Blood sequel. It also looks great on Blu-ray!

The Expendables Review

Just got back from a midnight showing of The Expendables. Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lungren, Steve Austin, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts not to mention a wonderful cameo by Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Great action flick all around! Car chases, gunfights, explosions, hand-to-hand combat, knife fighting, Terry Crews with an amazing shotgun blowing people and things up. There is a story, though not getting in the way of action and vice versa. All the action scenes basically had meaning. This was a lot like Rambo, but with more of a story and the hand-to-hand combat was as breath-taking as the rest. I highly recommend this for an adult male audience!

First Blood Blu-ray Review

This is part of the Rambo Complete Collector’s Set released by Lionsgate on Blu-ray. First off, First Blood looks better than ever! I remember seeing this way back in it’s theatrical run and never did this movie look or sound so good. This is among Sylvester Stallone’s best movies from a story and overall movie this is one of those films of yesteryear that entertained like few others. Stallone’s acting in this is top-notch even going up against Brian Dennehy his acting shined brighter than ever at the time of this movie. It’s no coincidence that his superstardom shot into the stratosphere after this movie. A great film and a must-see for any true action fan. This movie has a depth very few action fans achieve, but that’s always been Stallone’s success – marrying fun action with a deeper emotional core and meaning. If you haven’t seen this film, what planet have you been living on? Must-buy!
